DIR-882-US Rev. Ax , DIR-878 Rev Ax, DIR-867-US Rev Ax. Two Stack Overflow Vulnerabiltiies

 

Overview

 

 In November 2019, a 3rd party accused the D-Link Brand DIR-882-US Rev. Ax, DIR-878 Rev Ax, DIR-867-US Rev Ax sold in the US of two security LAN-side vulnerabilities that may elevate to a stack-overflow causing the device to stop regular operation. The security issues were verified, and patches made available below to close these vulnerabilities.

           - Bug 1: Stack Overflow In the primary function of prog.cgi, when parsing the HTTP headers, the program doesn't check the length of the SOAPAction header and the query string, which can cause a buffer overflow.

 

           - Bug 2: Stack Overflow When parsing the HTTP headers, the program doesn't check the HNAP_AUTH header's length, which can cause a buffer overflow. And no credentials are needed to trigger the bug.
