D-Link Affected Devices :: CVE-2022-30295 :: DNS poisoning flaw due to the use of legacy version of uClibc

Overview  

 

On May 4, 2022, D-Link became aware of the public disclosure of the DNS poisoning flaw in various versions of the uClibc software library. D-Link has been aware of the security issues involved with this library prior to public disclosure and has address the recognized issue in many of the its devices prior to the public disclosure.

 

Publically disclosed as CVE-2022-30295, a 3rd party security researcher found a popular IP communication software libary uClibc-ng through 1.0.40 and uClibc through 0.9.33.2 use predictable DNS transaction IDs that may lead to DNS cache poisoning. This is related to a reset of a value to 0x2.
