Overview

On April 27, 2023, 3rd party security research reported the D-Link Eagle Pro Ai R15 hardware revision Ax with firmware version  v1.08B01 and below having a hard-coded WPS PIN Vulnerability which was reported by the security tool Reaver

As soon as D-Link was made aware of the reported security issues, we had promptly started our investigation across the product-line, confirmed the issue and began developing security patches.

D-Link has found the R15 / M15 / E15 / (Non-US) G415 / (Non-US) G416 is affected. It was discovered that D-Link had  disabled this WPS PIN code feature in the device web-configuration, but the software libraries from the silcon chipset vendor did not disable this function by default. The result when Reaver scanned the device the WPS PIN code is still functional. This issue WPS-PIN issue does not affect other Eagle Pro AI Models including (Non-US) R03 / (Non-US) R04 / R12 / (Non-US) G403 / (Non-US) G412 or any newer model releases.

We have released beta-hotfixes below which require manual update by the owners of these devices, the official FOTA version should be ready in June. D-Link recommends consumers  of these models ensure their devices are set to automatically update firmware, which is a default setting, to ensure that they can receive the safest firmware version in time.

D-Link takes the issues of network security and user privacy very seriously. We have a dedicated task force and product management team on call to address evolving security issues and implement appropriate security measures.
