Overview

 

On April 14, 2021, a 3rd party security researcher reported the D-Link (Non-US) DWR-933 hardware revision A and B with the WPS-PIN entry mode of the above-mentioned model is vulnerable, as the devices are delivered with an easily guessable standard PIN.

 

As soon as D-Link was made aware of the reported security issues, we had promptly started our investigation and began developing security patches.

 

D-Link takes the issues of network security and user privacy very seriously. We have a dedicated task force and product management team on call to address evolving security issues and implement appropriate security measures.

Mitigation

 
- What can users do to safely use an affected device?
This product  WPS PIN MODE  is disabled by the factory default, please do not use it to ensure safety. If you accidentally use it, please press the PBC button “Start Via PBC” again to use it safely.
 
- What measures will you take?
For short-term workaround, once user choose/press PBC button then WPS PIN feature will be disable.
For Long-term solution, Rev. Ax is EOL/EOS which should be retired and replaced, and Rev. Bx should update to the firmware listed below where the feature has been removed.
