Overview
On May 26, 2026 3rd party security research reported the D-Link DWR-X1820, hardware revision Ax, offered outside the US, with firmware versions prior to the fix/patched version v1.00B16CP is accused of weak default password generated from its IMEI number and does not require users to change it. An attacker who knows how passwords are generated can easily crack the default password if they have the device IMEI number.
As soon as D-Link was made aware of the reported security issues, we had promptly started our investigation and began developing security patches.
D-Link takes the issues of network security and user privacy very seriously. We have a dedicated task force and product management team on call to address evolving security issues and implement appropriate security measures.
